We are proud to share that Chepstow Park in West Bletchley has once again been awarded the Green Flag Award. It’s a result we look forward to every year. Retaining the flag is never a given. Every winning site has to reapply and be judged from scratch each year, so the accreditation isn’t just a reflection of past work it’s confirmation that Chepstow Park is still meeting the standard right now. For everyone involved in looking after the space, that’s exactly the reassurance we want.
A landmark year for the Green Flag Award
The Green Flag Award has come a long way since it began. What started with just seven winning parks three decades ago has grown into an internationally recognised quality mark now flown at more than 2,500 sites around the world. In 2026, a record 2,391 parks and green spaces across the UK reached the standard the most in the scheme’s history.
The award is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, and it remains the benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces both here and internationally. For a local park like Chepstow to sit within that number, in the scheme’s anniversary year, is something the whole community can take pride in.
What retaining the flag means for Chepstow Park
Chepstow Park is a genuine asset for West Bletchley a free, open, welcoming green space where people can walk, play, exercise and simply spend time outdoors. Retaining the Green Flag confirms that it continues to be safe, clean, well cared for and shaped around the needs of the people who use it.
This is the third year running that our team has helped keep the flag flying at Chepstow Park, and it stays among a small number of parks in the Milton Keynes area to hold the accreditation. That consistency matters. A one-off win is one thing; keeping standards high year after year is what really sets a green space apart.
A partnership with West Bletchley Council
None of this happens in isolation. Retaining the Green Flag Award at Chepstow Park is the product of a close working relationship with West Bletchley Council, whose commitment to protecting and investing in local green space makes results like this possible.
Our role is to deliver the day-to-day commercial grounds maintenance that keeps the park to standard all year — from grass and shrub care to keeping paths, planting and facilities in good order. It’s the kind of steady, behind-the-scenes work that visitors rarely notice, which is exactly the point: a well-run park should simply feel effortless to enjoy.
Behind the flag: the work that keeps it flying
Green Flag judges assess each site against eight criteria, covering everything from how welcoming and safe a park feels to its cleanliness, sustainability, conservation, community involvement and overall management. Meeting all of them, consistently, takes planning and genuine care rather than a quick tidy-up before the judges arrive.
